For centuries we have puzzled over the reason why some versions of the Mother and Child were rendered in black. Is there a Biblical precedence? Could the Black Madonna represent Mary Magdalene and her daughter Sarah, rather than the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus? In this Sunday's talk, we explore some of the history and symbolism behind these beautiful works of art.
