One of the things we missed the most during the COVID lockdown was the Community Observatory. The observatory is part of the El Dorado Learning Center of Folsom Lake College. It is now open on Saturday evenings beginning at 9 PM and is free to the public.

This hill-top facility includes several giant telescopes and an outdoor Sky Theater where docents present information about the stars overhead. This is an opportunity to observe the Perseids Meteor Shower.

The observatory is located up Highway 50 at 6699 Campus Drive. You may meet us there, or get a ride in the car pool.

Our car pool leaves The Manse at 8:15 PM, on August 14.
